Our awareness and training events are a first step to help church leaders and communities deeply reflect on faith and corruption.

Fides seeks to work with and through the church as a catalyst for higher standards of public integrity in society that will enable a more equitable and just world. We believe the church has a great, but as yet untapped, potential to raise the standards of public integrity in society. Yet, this will demand deep changes in our churches in both theology and practice.

For the church to be a credible positive force in the fight against corruption, it must raise its consciousness about the destructive effects of corruption and its responsibility for individual and social change.

We need to start with ourselves if we are indeed to be salt and light in our own corrupt societies.

Fides awareness and training events focus on building consciousness and attitudes among church leaders and communities. They help the church and its leaders (i) better understand the nature, scope and impact of corruption on societies; (ii) examine the contrast between the local cultural norms and the Biblical injunctions and teachings on good government and public ethics and ; (iii) deeply reflect on how the church and believers individually perceive, participate in, and respond to corruption in its different forms; and (iv) consider ways to strengthen the public witness of the church as it seeks to be salt and light in societies affected by endemic corruption.
